Britain First leader to appear in court

Britain First leader to appear in court

Monday January 05 2015

The Essex Chronicle reports on the rallying of far right activists from Britain First in support of their leader, Paul Golding, as he prepares to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates Court on  Monday.

Golding is due to appear on charges of harassment and of “wearing uniform signifying association with a political organisation, namely his Britain First uniform”.

Golding stands accused of harassing Munazza Munawar at her home on 3 April. Golding claims he only visited Ms Munawar’s address “to expose a man he believed was an Al Qaeda terrorist.”

His door stepping tactic is reminiscent of similar methods he has employed when leading fellow members of the far right organisations on their various ‘mosque invasions’.

Last year, Golding led his fellow BF members in anti-Muslim grooming campaigns at ‘mega-mosques’ across the country. Golding is also reported to have visited the homes of Lancashire councillor, Salim Mulla, and Burnley MP, Gordon Birtwistle, as part of the far right group’s Operation Fightback. The group visited a number of mosques, harassed elderly worshippers and handed out Bibles to others whilst distributing literature railing against ‘Muslim grooming gangs’.

The Britain First candidate in the Rochester by-election last November and deputy leader, Jayda Fransen, has issued a plea to members to support Golding’s case by protesting outside the court.
