ITV News reports that police have released an impression of a man they would like to interview following an Islamophobic assault in Peterborough last week.

A woman was pushed over and had her hijab pulled from her head while out walking on James Avenue with her daughter. The incident occurred at around 10:15pm on Wednesday 7 June.

The suspect is described as tall, white, medium build and appeared wearing a dark top with the hood up.

Detective Inspector Rob Hall, from Cambridgeshire Police, said, “This was an unnecessary racially aggravated assault which left the victim fearing for the safety of her child as well as her own.”

“We would like to use this e-fit to re-appeal to members of the public, who may have been in James Avenue around the time of the incident, to come forward.”

Anyone with information should contact police on 101, quoting incident number CF0318240617. Alternatively, members of the public can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
