Actions around Palestine with Aisha mosque Walsall

On the 12th January, Aisha mosque hosted over 50 women to engage in a crucial dialogue on actions surrounding Palestine. The talk by Mend, focused on providing practical tools for female activists that resonated deeply with attendees. The talk also gave an introduction to islamophobia to help attendees define it and contextualise the actions around Palestine for instance, challenging harmful and bias media coverage.

The language guide proved invaluable, equipping women with the means to articulate their perspectives effectively. A poignant moment arose when one sister courageously shared her personal experiences with Islamophobia, underscoring the importance of seizing control over the narrative. Mend’s commitment to support extended beyond dialogue, with the organisation signposting key helplines and avenues for support, recognising the sensitivity of the current times. The talk emerged not only as an informative session but also as a catalyst for empowered action and support within a community passionate about justice and equality.
