On the 12th of May at Leeds City College, MEND North delivered an interactive and engaging workshop at Leeds City College. We were joined by staff members from various departments from across the college.
The workshop started with a discussion on how attendees define Islamophobia. which was followed by a discourse on the APPG definition and the importance of adopting the definition.
During the workshop, many of the attendees shared their own stories of Islamophobia either seen or experienced and all agreed that Islamophobia is on the rise. A strong feeling of community was created in the room during the discussion, as a result of sharing approaches and ideas on how to tackle Islamophobia together.
The action of reporting Islamophobic hate crimes and the importance was highlighted using case studies.
The workshop ended with a short Q&A.
We would like to thank the college for hosting us and those who attended!
