Local paper, Plymouth Herald, reports on the English Defence League demonstration in the city at the weekend against plans for a club to be given over to an Islamic charity to convert into a mosque.
EDL supporters from the south of English gathered in Plymouth to protest the plans. The local paper puts the number of EDL protestors at 25. Unite Against Fascism organized a counter-protest with around 40 supporters turning out in the rain to oppose the EDL.
The EDL organizer from Bournemouth, Gary England, told the Plymouth Herald reporter:
“If this building does become a mosque then you invite oppression.”
Which is in itself a rather interesting statement. Oppression of whom one might wonder? If the antics of the English National Resistance in Crayford are anything to go by, it would seem the EDL have adopted Muslim women as a pet cause.
The ENR have been protesting against the NWK Muslim Association in Crayford claiming its separate entrances for men and women constitute gender ‘apartheid’.
