MEND condemns the ongoing Israeli violence against the Palestinian people

MEND condemns the ongoing Israeli violence against the Palestinian people, which has so far claimed the lives of at least 45 Palestinian civilians, 16 of whom were children, and wounded over 300 others. 

MEND stands in solidarity with the Palestinian people and urges the UK government and the Conservative Party leadership candidates to end their unconditional support for Israel, and recognise the rights of the Palestinians to resist the occupation of their land, as indeed it recognises the rights of the Ukrainian people to do likewise. 

MEND further calls on the UK government to recognise that the necessary first step towards a lasting peace settlement is for Israel to stop the blockade of Gaza and end their longstanding occupation.
