The Student Union at the University of Wolverhampton decided to take part in #IAM2017 in a BIG way! The Union held events throughout the month including the Islamophobia exhibition, Islamophobia Causes and Cures presentation and a talk titled “the five pillars of Islamophobia” (delivered by the Muslim chaplain).
The activities kicked of with the Islamophobia Causes and Cures presentation. A number of students and faculty staff were in attendance. The level of media led Islamophobia and the lack of legislation preventing Islamophobia was a particular point that struck home with the attendees.
Later in the month the Islamophobia exhibition from Mend arrived at the University and was erected in the foyer to one of the busy faculty buildings. Over the days that it stayed at the university it became the talk of students at the university and on social media, with the tags #IAM2017 and #IAMWOLVES.
The activities of the month concluded with a lecture titled “The five pillars of Islamophobia”, delivered by the Muslim Chaplain.
All the talks and exhibition are available on the social media account of the University.
